Ragan On Racing At Homestead-Miami Speedway

Ragan on racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway: "Homestead is the last race of the season and one we'll all remember going into the off season so it's important to run well. I enjoy Homestead and we're running the new FR9 engine again. Being Ford Championship weekend I really hope to get a good finish in our UPS ford and end the season on a good note. We've struggled some this year and Homestead could be a place we turn our luck around."

Crew chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway: "Heading into Homestead we are motivated to end the season on a good note. Things haven't gone our way this year and we've struggled some. Getting a solid finish at Homestead with the new engine on our last race of the year would be the confidence builder this UPS team needs heading into the off season."

Ragan Finishes 23rd In Phoenix Despite Having A Damaged UPS Ford

PHOENIX, Ariz (November 15, 2009) – Phoenix International Raceway proved to be a challenge for David Ragan and his UPS Ford. Throughout practice the team just couldn't get the car handling well for Ragan. Ragan had the unlucky draw of going out first in qualifying at a track that is temperature sensitive, resulting in a 33rd place starting position. Ragan's crew made multiple adjustments throughout the race and got the UPS Ford turned around by the end, but damage from a multi-car accident on a restart cost valuable track position which couldn't be made up in the end. Ragan crossed the finish line 23rd, two laps down to race winner Jimmie Johnson.

Ragan On Racing At Texas Motor Speedway

Ragan on racing at Texas Motor Speedway: "Texas is an extremely fast track and has a lot of dedicated fans who come out to watch our race. It's really tight coming off of turn two to the outside wall, and turns three and four are really smooth. It's unique in general and makes for a really good race. There are multiple grooves to pass, so when you combine that with the speed it makes for a great race for the fans. We've got the Boys and Girls Clubs of America on our UPS Ford this weekend and we really want to get a good run for them."

Ragan Gets Caught Up In Last-lap Incident Resulting In A 17th-place Finish At Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. (November 1, 2009) – Restrictor-plate racing at Talladega produces high speeds and side-by-side racing, all of which make for unexpected surprises throughout the race. Ragan and crew anticipated a great outing since they had the new FR9 engine in their UPS Ford. Practice on Friday went well for Ragan, but the rains came Saturday forcing NASCAR to set the field based on points. Ragan started 28th in his UPS Ford and spent the entire race jockeying for position on the track. Ragan was as high as second and just as quickly as he was forward found himself back in the pack. A fast UPS Ford helped, but towards the end Ragan was hung out of the draft dropping him back in the field. The new engine generated great horsepower, but without drafting help you can only go so far at a restrictor-plate track.

Pit Road Penalty Results In A 22nd-place Finish For Ragan In Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (October 25, 2009) – With the 2009 season winding down, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series headed to Martinsville, Virginia for another rainy weekend of racing action. Martinsville is a challenging half-mile track with exciting racing action and Sunday's 500-lap event did not disappoint. From his 14th place starting position, Ragan held his own with a fast UPS Ford, but a penalty on pit road cost him valuable track position. Ragan spent the rest of the race adjusting the handling on his UPS Ford and trying to put himself in position to be the "lucky dog" recipient. Unfortunately, the caution flags never flew at the right time, and Ragan ultimately ended the race 22nd; one lap down to race winner Denny Hamlin.

With only a few races left, Ragan and crew were looking for a solid finish in front family, friends and fans. A loose handling racecar throughout the night caused some struggles for the team, and a flat tire cost them a lap, but no one gave up and Ragan battled his way back to the lead lap. Ragan ultimately finished on the lead lap in the 20th position, while Jimmie Johnson went on to win the NASCAR Banking 500.
