Electrical Problems Leave Braun With A 28th-Place Finish At Phoenix

AVONDALE, Az. (November 13, 2009) – Friday the 13th lived up to its reputation for Colin Braun at Phoenix in the Camping World Truck Series race. Braun was running 10th with 35 laps to go when he lost power to his Con-way Freight Ford F-150 and coasted to pit road. Electrical issues took Braun out of the race with a 28th-place finish.

Braun qualified 11th earlier in the day and moved up to ninth place by lap 20. The truck was a bit tight through the center of the corners and free off. A caution on lap 35 brought him to pit road for fuel and a track bar adjustment, as crew chief Mike Beam felt it was too early in the race for new tires. Since some teams elected to pit twice and take tires, Braun was second when the race resumed on lap 39.

Braun Fights His Way To A Top-Five Finish At Texas

FT. WORTH, Texas (November 6, 2009) – Colin Braun came to his home state of Texas looking for a win, but in the end came away with his third top-five finish in four starts at the 1.5-mile speedway. Braun fought the handling of the No. 6 Con-way Freight True LTL Ford F-150 early in the race, but after several adjustments throughout the race, the truck was fast when it counted at the end.

After winning the pole at Talladega last week, Braun qualified an uncharacteristic 19th for the race. He told crew chief Mike Beam the truck was a bit free on lap 10 but he gained two positions to move into 17th. By the time the first caution of the race came on lap 19 the truck was very free so Braun pitted for fuel and a track bar adjustment. Some teams took tires as well, which moved Braun up to 12th place for the restart on lap 24.

Braun Slips to 12th On Final Lap At Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. (October 31, 2009) – Colin Braun won the pole and led the most laps during the race, but did not lead the most important lap – the final one. After coming back from some damage on lap 65, Braun was in fifth when he took the white flag but ended up 12th when the checkered flag fell.

Braun won the pole Friday evening, his fourth of the season. For the second consecutive week the race was delayed a bit due to rain earlier in the day. Once the trucks rolled off pit road Braun took the lead and several trucks formed a single-file line behind him. The first caution of the race came on lap seven for debris. Crew chief Mike Beam brought Braun to pit road for a quick fuel stop. He returned to the track in second place but soon regained the lead on the restart on lap 11.

Braun Gets Best Career Martinsville Finish With Third

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (October 24, 2009) – Colin Braun has never had much luck at Martinsville Speedway. He has struggled at the paper clip-shaped short track, but today was a different story. In his four previous starts he never earned a top-10 finish, but today he brought the No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 home in third place.

The start of the race was delayed for nearly two hours due to rain all morning, but when the engines fired under sunny skies Braun was ready to go. He started in 12th place and knew that patience was the way to go early in the run. The truck was a bit tight so he pitted under caution for fuel and a track bar adjustment on lap 34.

Lady Luck Was Not With Braun At Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (September 26, 2009) – Colin Braun hoped the odds would be in his favor Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but unfortunately the deck was stacked against him. After qualifying fifth and leading five laps early in the race, a vibration and an extremely loose condition took Braun out of contention for the win. He ended up 17th, two laps down by the time the checkered flag fell.

The race got off to an unusual start when it was red flagged after the pace laps because a section of lights went out on the frontstretch. Once the track was fully illuminated the race began and Braun said his Con-way Freight Ford F-150 was a bit tight. He was able to pit for fuel and a wedge adjustment under caution on lap 23, which helped the truck come to life.

Braun's Top-10 Finish Moves Him Up To Fifth In The Points

LOUDON, N.H. (September 19, 2009) – Colin Braun did not have the best truck Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but he did exactly what he needed to do with it. He drove a smart, patient race and brought home a top-10 finish which moved the team up to fifth in the driver point standings.

Braun started the No. 6 Con-way Freight True LTL Ford from ninth place on a chilly, but sunny afternoon in New Hampshire. He lost a few positions early in the race as he told crew chief Mike Beam the truck was tight in the center of the corners, which also made it free off the turns. When the first caution of the race came on lap 39 Braun used the opportunity to pit for fresh tires and a wedge adjustment. The team had two quick stops which helped him gain five positions in the pits to restart in sixth place on lap 43.

Top-10 Finish Slips Away From Braun In The Closing Laps At Gateway

MADISON, Ill. (September 12, 2009) – Colin Braun started from the first position Saturday in Gateway, but unfortunately did not end up there. After fighting his way back up through the field from spin earlier in the race, Braun was in ninth place with seven laps to go when he got caught in an accident that ended his day prematurely with a 19th-place finish.

Braun collected his third pole of the season at Gateway International Raceway and led the first lap of the race before point-leader Ron Hornaday got by him. He settled into second place until his first pit stops of the race on laps 41 and 42. The Con-way Freight team had a fast 13.6-second stop for tires which put Braun out of the pits first, but varying pit strategies placed him third on the track for the restart on lap 46.

Braun Closes Out Inaugural Truck Race At Iowa With Third-Place Finish

NEWTON, Iowa (September 5, 2009) – An unusually late start time for the inaugural Camping World Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway with the green flag not dropping until 9:02 CT didn’t seem to bother Colin Braun. The 20-year old battled inside the top 10 all night long, and with tremendous pit stops by his No. 6 Con-way Freight True LTL teammates, Braun was able to hold off point leader Ron Hornaday to wrap up his second consecutive third-place finish.

Braun Finishes Third At Inaugural Chicagoland Truck Race

JOLIET, Ill. (August 28, 2009) – The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series held its first event at Chicagoland Speedway Friday night. With limited practice on Thursday due to rain, Colin Braun’s experience from running an ARCA race in 2007 paid off. Braun ran in the top five much of the race en route to a third-place finish.

Braun qualified his No. 6 Con-way Freight True LTL Ford F-150 10th for the 150-lap race. Early on the truck was a little tight, but he still worked his way up to sixth by lap 15. A caution on lap 21 brought Braun to pit road for four tires, fuel, wedge and air pressure adjustments. He was 16th when the race resumed on lap 25 since some trucks only pitted once for fuel and did not take tires.

12th-Place Finish At Bristol Moves Braun To Seventh In Points

BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 19, 2009) – The half-mile bull ring of Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the toughest on the NASCAR circuit, which Colin Braun learned quickly last year. After an accident on lap 41 left him with a 32nd-place finish in his first start there in 2008, he was eager to improve on that this time around. He used the experience he has gained in the past year to drive a smart race, and bring the truck home in one piece with a 12th-place finish.

Braun started the 200-lap event in fourth place. Early on he told crew chief Mike Beam that the Con-way Freight True LTL F-150 was loose in, but tight through the center and off the corners. The first caution of the race came on lap 37 which brought Braun to pit road for four tires, fuel, wedge and track bar adjustments.
